Petit-Saut: ten versions of the construction virtual tour, then 44 panoramas for the inauguration
Throughout construction of the Petit-Saut biomass plant we rebuilt the site’s virtual tour after each photo campaign, up to the tenth version in August 2025. For the inauguration on 14 October 2025 we delivered a 44-panorama tour covering both the plant and the sawmill, together with the event video.

Background
On the shore of the Petit-Saut reservoir, in the municipality of Sinnamary, Voltalia and its subsidiary Triton Guyane built a 10.5 MW biomass power plant and a sawmill side by side. Trees from the forest drowned by the lake are harvested there: species suited to sawing go to the sawmill, the others are turned into electricity by the plant. Voltalia had the progress of the works, which started in January 2022, documented through successive virtual tours, while Triton had the sawmill photographed every month. For the inauguration, the two companies wanted to present the finished site to their guests.
What we did
The April 2023 version of the construction tour, published with a mobile version, served as the basis for the next ones: March, May, August and December 2024, then August 2025, the tenth version, with 27 panoramas and a site plan. In February 2024 a biomass stockpile spotted on this tour was measured: request on the 19th, flight on the 21st and 22nd registered on the client’s GNSS base, plan on the 23rd. A 3 cm per pixel orthophoto of the site followed in July 2025. For the inauguration, the tour plan agreed with both operators resulted in 44 aerial and ground panoramas, from the boiler to the sawmill quay, and nine albums drawn from the 2023–2025 site monitoring photos. The tour was delivered online and as an offline version for the 43-inch screen planned on site; the event video, edited from the construction archive, went through several versions between 3 and 13 October. In 2026 Triton commissioned a new tour of the sawmill and the lake from us.
